Orchestra of the Music Makers
7:30pm to 9.30pm
Esplanade Concert Hall
Regarded as the "Everest of piano concertos", Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto combines sheer virtuosity, unabashed romance, and epic grandeur. Scaling this great work is Julliard-based Malaysian piano prodigy Tengku Irfan, returning to Singapore after his critically-acclaimed performance of Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in 2015. OMM's newly appointed Associate Conductor Seow Yibin leads the orchestra through Saint-Saëns' blockbuster Organ Symphony. Featuring soaring melodies and glittering orchestral colors from the first-ever composer of film music, this majestic masterpiece will showcase the Esplanade Concert Hall's magnificent 4740 pipe Klais organ. Hear also four of Rachmaninoff's Preludes reimagined through the winning entries from OMM's inaugural orchestration contest.
